10K vs 14K
Karat Gold, What Are The Differences?
We get asked all the time about the character of metal, and what does Karat of gold mean?
There are many different formulas. You've got your 10K Gold, 14K, and 18K Gold.
Gold Karats can go up to 20K, 22K and 24K. 24 Karat Gold, would be a pure gold.
That is going to really determine the hardness and the durability that you're going to find behind the metal, which becomes really important if a client is looking for something that's very durable, that isn't going to show the scratches or the scuffs of daily wear.
The higher the gold Karat, the more soft it becomes, the more pure, precious gold that's in that piece. The lower the number, the less pure gold that's in that piece, and the more durable it will be for everyday wear.
